The Gardener’s Greenhouse brings together my love of gardening, baking and cake decorating, using home-grown edible or non-toxic flowers. I can offer single and double layer cakes that are thoughtfully made, and unique for each occasion, in the sizes below. Early ordering is recommended, with at least one week’s notice where availability allows.
My kitchen was first registered in 2021 and this requirement is no longer required for home-based cake-makers of shelf-stable cakes and brownies. This removes a lot of formalities that are involved with registration, but it also means that I can no longer offer biscuits and desserts.
Delivery is sometimes available to Motueka, Moutere and Mapua $15.00, Riwaka $20.00, Kaiteriteri, Richmond and Stoke $25.00, Nelson Central $30.00.

The menu below will give you an idea of flavours, sizes and products available. They are a guide only as I often use seasonal ingredients and flowers. All double layer cakes are filled with fruit compote, ganache, buttercream or sauce and are iced with Swiss meringue buttercream or cream cheese icing. Specialty flours, free range eggs, chocolate and caramel decorations, nuts and edible flowers are included in the price. Serving sizes are approximate as it often depends whether the cake is served as a dessert or after a meal with tea and coffee. Please ask if you need some help with this.
Most of the cakes and bakes can be adapted to be gluten free depending on the flavour, not vegan or sugar free. Sometimes there will be an extra cost for this. Please note my kitchen handles gluten, wheat, dairy, eggs, sesame seeds, soy and nuts (almonds, peanuts, walnuts, hazelnuts and cashews).
Some prices have increased due to the cost of good quality ingredients.
15cm (6”) round cake - Double layer from $75 (Serves 6 - 8). Also available as a triple layer cake (if height is required for the design) from $140 (Serves 12-14) Includes a Masonite cake board and centre dowel
20cm (8”) round cake - Single layer from $65 (Serves 6 - 8), Double layer from $100 (Serves 12 - 14)
23cm (9”) round cake - Single layer from $85 (Serves 12 - 16), Double layer from $140 (Serves 16 - 24) Includes a Masonite cake board
23cm (9”) square cake - Single layer from $95 (Serves approx. 16), Double layer from $150 (Serves 24 - 40)
23 x 36cm (9” x 14”) rectangle cake - Double layer from $200 (Serves 35 large, 60 small) This cake comes on a strong Masonite cake board which is an extra $15 (Cost price).

Dark Chocolate and Beetroot Cake
A chocolate birthday cake filled with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream and mixed berry compote. This cake is iced with Whittaker’s milk chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream, strawberries and raspberries (in season), cornflower petals and mint leaves. You can’t taste the beetroot! It just gives the cake some depth.
6” (15cm) Triple Layer Cake
A birthday or celebration cake with your choice of flavour from the options above. This cake has three layers and is decorated with home grown fresh and pressed flowers from the garden. The flowers are seasonal and certain colour themes may not be available.
Caramelised Apple and Date Cake
A deliciously moist Apple and Date Cake filled with caramel sauce, topped with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream swirls. Decorations can include candied hazelnuts, toffee springs and fresh edible flowers from the garden.
23 x 36cm (9” x 14”) Rectangle Cake
Any flavour or style. This cake is a Lemon Buttermilk Cake with Swiss meringue buttercream, coloured with homegrown Black Doris plums. It is filled with lemon curd and is topped with fresh edible flowers from the garden and white chocolate butterflies made from Whittaker’s chocolate.
Double layer 6” (15cm) with Pressed and Fresh Flowers
This Dark Chocolate and Beetroot Cake is iced with vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream and filled with berry compote. It is decorated with pressed, spray free edible flowers from the garden, fresh roses, dianthus flowers and Sweet Cicely leaves.
Carrot Cake with Caramel Sauce
A double layer cake topped and filled with caramel sauce and vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream, with seasonal flowers from the garden. These are Marshmallow flowers, Snapdragons and Cecile Brunner roses. Also nice as a Carrot and Banana Cake with the same filling.
Single Layer Chocolate Cake
A single layer Chocolate and Beetroot Cake with chocolate Swiss meringue buttercream and seasonal flowers from the garden. These ones are hops and cornflowers.
Single Layer Garden Cake
An 8” (20cm) Vanilla Cake with Swiss meringue buttercream, snapdragon flowers, primroses and chervil. The royal icing butterflies are naturally coloured with homegrown blackcurrants and blue butterfly pea flowers.
Raspberry and White Chocolate Cake
Seasonal roses, mint leaves and pelargonium petals on a Raspberry and White Chocolate Cake, with Whittaker’s white chocolate shards on the side. The cake is filled with raspberry Swiss meringue buttercream and raspberry compote.
23 x 36cm (9” x 14”) Rectangle Cake
A variety of summer flowers from the garden on a moist vanilla cake studded with raspberries and white chocolate, filled with raspberry compote. The sides are decorated with palette knife leaves, coloured with organic green spirulina.
Striped Layered Cake (15cm - 6”)
Available in any flavour with your choice of filling and Swiss meringue buttercream. The stripes on this cake are naturally coloured with homegrown black currants and the edible flowers are Verbena, Snapdragon and Roses from the garden.
Single Layer Cake (20cm - 8”)
A Dark Chocolate and Beetroot Cake topped with flowers from the garden in a sunny mandala pattern. The cake is iced with smooth Whittaker’s chocolate ganache creating a perfect backdrop for the floral decoration.
23cm (9”) Square Cake
Square cakes are an excellent option for serving larger numbers, often providing more portions than round cakes. Available in all of the flavours above as single or double-layer cakes, especially suited to Hummingbird or Carrot Cakes. Cutting guides are also available to help you plan serving sizes.

Textured Buttercream Cake
A textured buttercream finish for a natural and contemporary look on a Lemon Buttermilk Cake, decorated with crystallised lemon, meringue drops and sprigs of Rosemary.
Floral Celebration Cake
A generously sized 9" (23cm) square cake finished with Swiss meringue buttercream roses and fresh seasonal flowers. This provides more servings than a round cake of a similar size, making it an excellent choice for larger gatherings.
Garden Wall Cake
Inspired by a cottage garden wall, this celebration cake features a brick-pattern design with seasonal Banksia roses climbing up the sides. Available as a triple-layer 6" (15cm) cake or as a double layer cake in any size.

Delicious lemon cupcakes filled with lemon curd, topped with buttercream, edible flowers and herbs from our garden. Cupcakes can be made in a variety of flavours, each with a complementary filling and decoration. Gluten-free options are also available. $35 for a box of six, or $37 gluten-free.
Garden Chocolate Brownies
Decadent chocolate brownie squares with edible flowers from the garden, Whittaker’s chocolate ganache rosettes, and handcrafted dark chocolate butterflies and leaves. $5.00 each, with a minimum order of six.
Winter Snowflake Cupcakes
Chocolate Cupcakes filled with mixed berry compote, topped with naturally coloured blue spirulina fondant snowflakes and homemade glitter. $35 for a box of six, or $37 gluten-free.
Chocolate Brownie Squares
Double chocolate fudge brownie with Whittaker's dark chocolate chips and ganache, piped chocolate decorations and cornflowers. $5.00 each, with a minimum order of six.
Vanilla and Strawberry Cupcakes
Vanilla cupcakes filled with strawberry compote, topped with strawberry Swiss Meringue Buttercream and edible flowers from the garden. Fresh strawberries added in season. $35 for a box of six, GF $37.
Tan Square
To be replaced - The traditional New Zealand tan square classic with a double caramel centre, shortbread base and crumble topping. $4.00 each, minimum order is for six.
Chocolate Eclairs or Cream Puffs
To be replaced - Chocolate Eclairs topped with chocolate ganache and Cream Puffs dusted with icing sugar. Both are filled with Vanilla pastry cream (Creme Patissiere) mixed with whipped cream. $4.50 each, minimum order is for six.
Calendula Seed Crackers
To be replaced - Crunchy five seed crackers with homegrown calendula petals and organic seeds. Can be made with your preference, brown rice flour or cornmeal. Delicious on a cheeseboard served with hummus. $10 for a 200g pack.
Custom Cake Creations
I am updating my website as registration is no longer required for cake makers and decorators of shelf stable cakes, which only includes Brownies. Most of these desserts are no longer available and the photos are in the process of being replaced.
Cake tables can include single or double layer cakes, mini cakes, cupcakes and brownies.
First Birthday Cake
A beautifully decorated first birthday cake in your choice of flavour, with Swiss meringue buttercream and fresh edible flowers from the garden, chocolate butterflies, strawberries, and mint.
Double Chocolate Brownie
Decadent and fudgey, this chocolate brownie is made with a whole block of melted Whittaker’s dark chocolate and studded with chocolate chips.
Classic Pavlova
A New Zealand classic, topped with vanilla whipped cream and fresh summer fruit.
Lemon Caramel Slice
This is more a dessert than a slice. It has an oaty orange crust, white chocolate drizzle and vanilla whipped cream on the side.
Macarons
Macarons made with natural food colouring. These ones are made with blue spirulina and pink pitaya, filled with blueberry and raspberry ganache.
Dessert Grazing Tables
Dessert tables made to order with a river of meringues, chocolate and caramel sauce, lemon curd, chocolate decorations and fresh fruit.
